In this first video from Clapper Video, we have a video adaptation of an essay written by Kyle Gaffney during Clapper's Spike Lee Retrospective which ran in 2020.

This essay takes a look at how Spike Lee incorporates the idea of the 'white voice' in Blackkklansman, and how the concept is effectively used to portray the idea of the black community reclaiming their voice. With reference to other works from Spike Lee, as well as some other recent works from directors such as Boots Riley, this essay only tackles a fraction of the excellent work from Spike Lee.
