CELL ADORE FILM FEST - Max

IMG_0336.JPG

Micky Wonzy’s Max is another promising animated short.

The film follows a dog named Max and its nameless owner through a series of memories; playing in the snow, seeing the tracks left behind and feeling the snow hit them. The short ends with the nameless owner growing up as Max disappears.

As in Wonzy’s other short, Let Her Rip, stop motion animation is utilised to tell the story. Coloured sand is used to create the snowy landscape giving great detail to scenes, like a snowdrop hitting the dogs nose, or to give great detail to the fur of the dog as it’s being petted.

Max is a wonder of a short. At only a minute, Wonzy fully displays an ability to convey deep emotion with intriguing visual flare and all without saying a word.

I've been a cinephile since I popped out my mom. I was always that kid who knew about the newest movies and spent much of their time watching them. I knew I wanted to be apart of the industry when I saw grindhouse at age 12 and I haven't looked back since.
