Death by Adaptation Podcast - Episode 15: Filth

Death by Adaptation Podcast

Welcome to Death By Adaptation, a bi-weekly book club where we choose one classic book and compare and contrast it against its cinematic adaptations.

In this episode, we discuss the controversial 1998 Irvine Welsh dark comedy Filth, and the 2013 James McAvoy-starring adaptation. We talk about Scotland in popular imagery, the intricacies of its disgusting protagonist, the complexities of Welsh's meta-writing, the hypocrisies of being racist and loving Indian curry, and how humor is needed to make a character likable.
