The Uncut Gems Podcast - Episode 67 (Battle Beyond the Stars)

The Uncut Gems Podcast

The Uncut Gems Podcast is a show where a bunch of like-minded individuals gather around a virtual table to discuss films that for one reason or another have become forgotten. Tongues pressed firmly in cheek, the team don their film historian top hats and rant from sedentary positions to hopefully conclude whether the film in question deserves to be covered by sands of time or if it is a classic in dire need of attention.

In this episode of the show we are observing May the 4th celebrations (albeit a bit late) by talking about the 1980 Roger Corman-produced knock-off of Star Wars, namely Battle Beyond the Stars. Over the course of our conversation you will hear us talk about the film's various connections to Lucas' movie, how it draws directly from Kurosawa, Sturges and even the Greek mythology, all in addition to hearing us praise James Cameron's art direction and James Horner's score! That's in addition to having a lot of fun at the expense of this trashy B-movie that against all odds became a cult darling over the years!

Tune in, follow, like and subscribe at your podcatcher of choice and be sure to follow the show on Twitter and Instagram as well! You can also support the show on Ko-fi! Also, be sure to subscribe to our brand new Patreon for more exclusive podcasts.
